Kapton/Polymide/Pyralux Heaters
(Sizes/Specifications)
Thin
and flexible adhesive backing to conform to practically any
flat or curved surface and fits into smallest
gap. Etched foil
heating elements are encapsulated in Kapton and cemented together
with Teflon FEP, for excellent tensile strength, tear resistance,
and chemical resistance. Designed for use with metal containers
in temperatures ranging from -40º to +300º F. Lead wire is 12" in
length for hook-up to a temperature controller.
Kapton
insulated etched foil elements efficiently provide heater where
performance
characteristics are vital. Kapton polyimide material
has high dielectric strength, allowing very thin heater construction.
Excellent tensile strength, tear resistance, cut-through resistance
and dimensional stability produce an extremely strong and lightweight
heater. Typical thickness, excluding lead wire exit area is 0.007".
All Kapton heaters contain etched foil for elements covered on
both sides with Kapton film insulation, bonded together with
Teflon® FEP.

Helps
reduce prototype development time of customized flexible heaters.
Electro-Flex
Heat Inc. offers a comprehensive flexible heater
sample kit to help design engineers specify and determine customized
requirements for virtually any equipment heating application.
The Kapton Heater Sample Kit is available in DuPont’s
Kapton® with
a pressure sensitive adhesive backings.
The
Kapton Flexible Heater Sample Kit provides fifteen (15) different
shaped heaters
to meet application considerations;
all models
may be utilized with thermostats and/or variable volt power
supply.
Electro-Flex
Heat’s customized flexible heaters
have been used in applications such as medical equipment
for sterilization,
aerospace for low outgassing properties are required, transportation,
laboratory for research, photographic equipment, LCD displays,
military and the automotive industry.
The
Kapton® heater
configurations are outlined on a 12"x12" sheet
with line markings for easy heater selection and cutout.
Heaters used in combinations can provide a number of resistances
and
wattages, especially when used in conjunction with a voltage
regulator.
Note: all kit heaters require either a temperature or
power controller to regulate heater temperature.
Kapton
Heater Kits are $135.00/kit
(includes next day delivery if ordered
by 11:00 eastern time)

Leads:
A
Teflon insulated lead wire is recommended for energizing the
heater.
Use Heater Wattage Chart along with Amp Rating Table
to determine the recommended lead wire gauge.

Cautions:
Heaters
with watt densities exceeding 8 Watts/in--2 need to be thermally
controlled. Failure to do so will result
in damage to
heater.
